Will CBD E-Liquid get me high?

By far, one of the most frequent questions from people trying CBD vape juice for the first time.

CBD has zero psychoactive properties, therefore, the answer is a resounding NO!

CBD is not addictive and you cannot get high from vaping CBD oil. There are NO munchies, NO paranoia, NO cottonmouth, and NO red eyes.

It also goes without saying that it is virtually impossible to overdose on CBD.

What exactly is CBD?

Two of the most famous naturally occurring active ingredients found in the cannabis plant are CBD and THC.

THC is the better known of these and is the go-to compound for recreational users looking for a ‘high’.

CBD however, has zero psychoactive properties and is more likely to be derived from a hemp plant than a marijuana plant. Both hemp and marijuana are in the Cannabis Sativa family of plants and CBD are found in both of these.

Cannabis plants can have upwards of 20% THC and low concentrations of CBD. Conversely, Hemp plants have been bred over centuries to be less than 0.3% THC and much higher quantities of cannabidiol.

Are there legit benefits of CBD?

Respected research across the globe suggests that CBD promotes homeostasis i.e balance within the human body. For example - decreasing blood pressure if it is too high or removing toxins via the waste system.

As such, CBD has been described as ‘multi-target- therapy’ due to its ability to be useful in many medical applications.

Two of the most popular medical applications for CBD include :

Anxiety

Many sufferers of anxiety have been turning to CBD for years to alleviate their symptoms and research is now producing science to support this.

One study, in particular, looked at 49 primary preclinical, clinical, or epidemiological studies and concluded that evidence strongly supports the potential of CBD as a treatment for anxiety disorders.

Reducing Seizures

BIlly Caldwell - CBD

Throughout 2018 CBD was constantly in the news for its ability to reduce the daily seizure count of children suffering from epilepsy.

One famous example was Billy Caldwell. Billy suffered from multiple seizures every single day and as a result was unable to attend school. He had stopped responding to medicine provided by doctors so as a last resort his mother took him abroad so he could be treated with cannabis. The results were astounding; Billy was seizure free for over 300 days for the first time in his life.

Charlotte Caldwell, his mother, tried to return to the UK with six months supply of cannabis oil but this was confiscated at the border at Heathrow airport.

Charlotte campaigned tirelessly, drawing considerable attention to the plight of many sufferers of epilepsy in the UK who are denied their medication and eventually the Home Office intervened.

In November 2018 cannabis oil officially became recognised as a medicine by the NHS and has now been prescribed to children suffering from epilepsy.

It is important to state, however, that CBD is not a ‘miracle drug’. doctors advice should be consulted before using as part of any medical treatment.

Is vaping the most effective way to enjoy CBD?

Vaping CBD E Liquid

The three most popular ways to vape CBD are oral, sublingual and vaping. A method to compare the efficacy of each method is to measure the bioavailability.

Bioavailability is the degree and rate at which a substance that is absorbed into the bloodstream. For example, if you took 100mg of CBD but ingested only 20mg the bioavailability would be 20%.

Oral Consumption

Oral consumption means to consume something through the mouth and digestion system. You can consume CBD orally by taking capsules, edibles or even drinks.

Oral Consumption is possibly the easiest and most widespread way to consume CBD however it does have its disadvantages; because it has to pass through your metabolic and digestive systems a large portion is filtered out.

A 2009 study reported a 20% bioavailability rate being the most optimistic scenario when orally ingesting CBD.

Sublingual Consumption.

Sublingual sounds fancy but it just means ‘under the tongue’. Cbd tinctures are a popular form of this.

Sublingual offers a more direct route to the bloodstream than oral and is quicker to take action and as a result, the bioavailability can be up to 35%.

Vaping

Vaporized consumption involves inhaling CBD directly into the lungs, typically through a vape pen or vaporizer device.

The lungs offer direct access to the bloodstream and numerous medical studies suggest bioavailability rates between 34–46%, and some even reporting up to 56%, vaporizing CBD is by far one of the most effective methods to take CBD.

Is CBD Vape Juice Legal?

Providing your E-Liquid only contains cannabidiol, CBD E-liquid is legal for both recreational and medical use.

Generally, all CBD products are considered legal in the UK providing :

  1. They don’t contain any THC – be sure you read the ingredients before ordering online!
  2. They have a licence IF advertised for medical benefits.

What is the difference between CBD E-Liquid and CBD Vape-Oil?

CBD E-Liquid

Just like regular e-liquid, CBD vape juice is primarily composed of propylene glycol (PG) and vegetable glycerine (VG). The ratio of CBD E liquids is typically weighted towards PG due it being able to better dissolve CBD.

CBD Vape-Oil

CBD Vape oil is CBD diluted in an oil hence the name (duh!). Quite frequently it'll be hemp oil but other types of oil such as coconut oil can be used. Hint - Try our Elevate Naked CBD Oil

Will vaping CBD cause me to fail a drugs test?

CBD Drugs test

It is highly unlikely that you’ll fail a drugs test as a result of vaping CBD vape juice.

This is because a drugs test is likely to be looking for THC and not CBD. All legal CBD products available to purchase in the UK should either be made using CBD isolate or be made from cannabis strains with less than 0.2% THC.

The only way the small amount of THC buried in hemp-based CBD products might be able to shine through and trigger a false positive is if a patient was consuming upwards of 1,000 milligrams a day. To put this into perspective, most CBD users consume an average of 120-to-160 milligrams daily.

However, it is worth not all CBD products are creating equal! There have been some reports of certain CBD strains being tested and found to contain over 10% THC.

If worried about drugs tests it is worthwhile purchasing CBD from reputable sources only.
